R.G. Residence – Encinitas, CA
After living in this contemporary home for almost 20+years, the clients decided it was time to replace the large expanses of generic ice plant, small rear concrete patio and aging deck with more usable spaces for entertaining and private enjoyment. The new dining terrace and outdoor kitchen with concrete countertops are both covered with painted cedar and ipe pergolas and warmed with a series of ceiling mounted electric heaters. Wide sand finished concrete steps lead down to a custom slate fire element surrounded with ipe and smooth wall stucco benches. An ipe bridge leads around the house to a new multi level deck, with stainless cable and wood railings, a charcoal cast stone water feature, sleek lounge chairs and gunmetal pots filled with succulents and grasses. In the front of the house , a new carport, front entry and slope replanted with grasses, cordyline and grevilleas complete the new look.
